Borough Plans to Purchase Property for Public Works Department
At their October 5 meeting, Council plans to approve purchase of nearly 10 acres as the corner of Washington Avenue and Souderton-Hatfield Pike in Franconia Township from Scholl Brothers Excavating. The property will become the future home of the Souderton Borough Public Works Department.
The current public works garage is tucked behind residential properties off of Second Street. There is no room for bulk material storage, and equipment access is difficult.
Souderton Borough plans to use the new property for storage of seasonal equipment in the short-term with the possibility of a new facility five or more years from now.
With the purchase of this property, there are unlimited possibilities for future development. However, renovation of the pool facility is Borough Council’s current focus, and most of the available capital spending will be directed to that project first.
