Now is the time to remember to check your home heating oil tank for leaks or spills.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has created a self-inspection checklist to help determine if your heating oil tank may need some TLC before winter rolls in. Remember to check your home heating oil tank for leaks or spills! Many Spills and overfills have resulted from deliveries made to the wrong tank. Many times leaks can easily be detected and corrected before extensive environmental damage occurs. There are simple and generally inexpensive devices that can prevent this from occurring. Tanks should be installed on a concrete pad and be secured with floor flanges and concrete anchors.
